Turtle Mountain

Environment

In a place named for turtles the environment comes first

Rather than replace nature with artificial planting and trappings we have complemented the beautiful natural habitat that is already here. We’ve integrated wildlife corridors with nature trails, put in progressive storm water strategies, landscaped with natural plant species and can provide the background research for geothermal heating and air conditioning. We’ve preserved that vanishing precious resource, the night sky with special dark sky street lighting. Everything we’ve done contributes to a Low Impact Development.

We’ve done some planning for you as well. The climate and limited rainfall of Vernon are important factors in the choice of landscaping materials and plants here. To help create an authentic unifying landscape for the community our guidelines take all of the guess work out of individual landscaping for Turtle Mountain. Handy guidelines list plants that thrive here and allow for and encourage individuality for each home. Nature and human nature working together.

We are also proud to include EnerGuide energy efficiency ratings as a new standard with all new homes at Turtle Mountain and to be one of the only builders in the Okanagan including energy efficient upgrades as standard in the building of all our new homes.

The EnerGuide rating shows a standard measure of your home’s energy performance and shows you (and future buyers) exactly how energy efficient your home is. The rating is calculated based on standard operation assumptions so that you can compare the energy performance of one house against another. The home’s energy efficiency level is rated on a scale of 0 to 100. A rating of 0 represents a home with major air leakage, no insulation and extremely high energy consumption.
